True NOMADs Dream .... This is it... a Tourer's dream !!

True NOMADs Dream .... This is it... a Tourer's dream !!

The TRK 502 is by no means a performance machine, its a Tourer with blood lines that follow the best of class tourers like the Multistrada, Verysys and VStrom.

The Bike very unlikely of Benelli doesnt scream and sets out to do its job more silently than you would expect if you look at its smaller sibling like to 300 and 302. Well that said this bike isnt meant for people who want a lot of noise and attention. This is an absolute tourer which a nomad would love to own. I am a guy that would love to loitter at my pace away from the city with no flights to catch during my riding trips....this on really gets me the feel of being one with nature!!!

The bike does weigh a bit at 210 kgs dry and with a 20Ltr petrol intake and your saddle bags on it can go upto 230 kgs and of course a pillion would mean a quarter tonne pay load.
However the bike doesnt feel heavy as you would expect it and give you a jerk free smooth ride. Accelaration again is something you need to learn over the vehicles behaviour, it can hit triple digits comfortably and will lug on vibration free at 110kmph. The gear ratios are pretty well set and the shifts are quite smooth, you need to get your practice to move back to neutral though. But once you get the feel of the shifts its quite nice and practically very linear power transmission, but turn the throttle like a performance bike you will be dissappointed, its just more noise than speed. But, thats exactly what one needs to know about the TRK 502, its not a bike that you take on the track or use on your drag sunday, this is one that glides over the poorly done roads and takes you into the twilight to your destination fatigue free and reliably.

Equipped with bare essential console components but its top notch on quality. The switchable dual channel ABS is a good feature and yes there is a fantastic feature that may don't laud about - the side stand sensors. The Bike will switch off if your stand comes on, nor can you start with the stand ON - very safe I would say. There is also a gear indicator that is useful. The bike is not very torquey but gives you enough punch on gears 1 and 2 to pull through city traffic. Once on the highway, its a song to be riding. I may however refrain from commenting on the Pirelli soft rubber, I need to a few thousand miles before I can see that performing. The Bike has saddle stays pre-fixed and also a 12volt charger with provision for mobile mount on the visor. The desmodronic style key....a wow factor :)

Ground clearance of 190mm you can glide over most of the bad patches. The seating at 800 mm is very comfortable at my frame of 5ft 8 in, and the build is quite strong for mounting the bike....I mean like an SUV against a Car... you have to CLIMB on the bike than swing your feet over it. Well, there are downsides too, the turning radius is quite HUGE and that means your city rides are quite difficult while highway trips are wonderful, but this is a NOMADs vehicle and not a commuter.

Heating??? The heat dissipation SPOT ON - I couldnt sense heating after an hour of riding in the city. The liquid cooling system does work nicely and the fairing design is such that the heat moves below your heels than on through your thighs. The maintenance costs, I am told is about 8k on an average every 6000 kms or 6 months. Benelli does give you an unconditional 5 year warranty on the TRK 502, subject to you shelling out this money every 6 months!!! well, I don't see that a great deal of benefit. I wish the service intervals are increased to 10k miles and 12 month interval, there will be a sizeable shift of buyers from the Verysys and Vstrom sections who will choose the Benelli TRK 502. Yes, you also get a 24 month road side assistance FREE anywhere across the country. Ask me, this is the best you can get bang for your buck in the superbike professional touring segment in the country today.
