This is Tejas here. Bajaj Discover 125cc has been my first bike. I don’t have experience of Riding a 150cc bike. Somedays back just got to ride a friends second hand Yamaha FZ-S. Yamaha FZ-S is just awesome for a 150cc segment bike. Too smooth, awesome pick up and torque. The Discover bike is good. But the engine does not seem to be upto expectation. Initially it was good. It seems to have aged up in less than 6months. Time to give it for second service though only ridden for 3900kms approx. Pick up, Mileage everything is fine. The only drawback is it ages up soon and when you have a pillion rider, the engine makes a lot of sound and pick up goes for a toss. The engine seems to be breaking itself down, while going with a pillion rider. For a single rider its great. Otherwise its an excellent bike to go for. Mileage is superb around 58-60kmpl provided you maintain a speed limit of 40-50kmph. Skimps through traffic. Last thing I wish Yamaha bikes had good mileage so that I could buy it. May be 6months later down the line I am planning to buy a 150cc bike. Just started my research work. Have 3 bikes in mind - 1. Hero Hunk 2. Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler (though the looks doesn’t seem good, need to see it in showroom once) 3. Apache RTR 160CC (Thinking of mileage??) If the mileage is good than surely going for Apache RTR160cc. Dealer claims the mileage to be around 40-45kmpl (which is less in comparison to its competitors which give 50+ kmpl). May be I need some advice from experienced riders of Apache RTR160cc, Hero Hunk (after split from Honda, feels no longer reliable in terms of machine and performance), Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler..... Life after 2nd Service as on 14/11/2012 - Hello guys. I had my second servicing done after riding for 3900kms approx. First service was done after 500kms approx. The bike seems to be in good shape now along with the engine. One problem is that I think because its only 125cc the engine coughs up with a pillion rider. Something that I am disappointed about. I had also taken a test ride of Apache RTR 160cc, Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler and Yamaha SZ-R all with a pillion rider. Honda Dazzler seems to be very slow in Pick up compared to other two. The Engine makes a lot of sound. This I have experienced during test ride of Honda Dazzler plus it costs around 86k. Apache was very good in Pick up along with a pillion with good suspension. Honestly, I never felt that I had a pillion rider with me on Apache. Such a beast it is. Handling and control was good. The only problem can be posture while riding and little vibrations in Engine. The rest all is fine. Apache comes for around 82k. Yamaha SZ-R though costs around 72k was very cool in riding with a pillion rider. Engine is damn smooth with good suspension. Handling is very comfortable. The only drawback is rider position and mileage. Yamaha guys claim mileage around 45+ in city. Reduced price is because of less torque compared to 150cc bike segment in order to increase fuel efficiency. The only problem with Yamaha is mileage which actually resists me from buying the bike. Hero Hunk didn’t get a chance to have a test ride because the Dealer M/s. Max Motors on Dr. Rajkumar Road, Bangalore said we don’t have Hero Hunk for test ride after making me go up and down for 2 floors twice. Really bad service from Hero Guys I should say. I was seriously considering Hero Hunk but now out of option to buy because of such behavior. Mostly looking to zero in on Apache RTR 160cc. Also had a word with a person who has ridden Apache RTR 160cc for 6months. His problem is engine vibration and posture nothing else he told he will not recommend Apache to anyone but he Feels Bajaj Pulsar is better. Had a test ride of Suzuki GS150R. I should say its an awesome bike. Very smooth engine, good pick up, economical on your pocket. One good thing about the bike is that it shows you in which gear you are. I hope other brands also had it. I feel I should go for Suzuki GS150R.
