Expert Review
One of the best selling motorcycles of India, Bajaj CT 100 was discontinued in the year 2006 due to some issues. However, the company relaunched it in 2015 to cater the common masses of the country once again. The bike offers better fuel efficiency with pleasant looks. Propelling the bike is a 99.27cc, four-stroke,
air-cooled engine that is linked to a four-speed gearbox. The mill generates a peak power of 8.1bhp at 7,500rpm with a maximum torque of 8.05Nm at 4,500rpm. Bajaj CT 100 comes to life through a Digital CDI ignition system and it manages to reach a top speed of 90kmph. The manufacturer claims a fuel efficiency of 89.5kmph which is one of the best figures in the country presently.
The bike is bolted on a tubular single down tube with lower cradle frame and runs on 2.75x17” 41P tyre at the front and 3.00x17” 50P tyre at the rear. Its braking system includes 110mm drum brake at both ends. Bajaj has equipped the new CT 100 with hydraulic telescopic shock absorber at the front and trailing arm with a unique coaxial Spring in Spring (SNS) suspension at the rear, which was seen in its earlier version as well.
There has not been any considerable modification in the body dynamics of the bike apart from the employment of alloy wheels at both ends. The front profile comes with a traditional drop down type headlamp. The bike measures 1,945mm x 770mm x 1,072mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase of 1,235mm. It has a ground clearance of 169mm with a fuel tank of 10.5 liter capacity. The total weight of the bike sums up to 108kg making it an easy to ride and fuel saving machine.
Design and Features
Bajaj CT 100 witnesses a plain and simple body design, which is pretty evident in most of the commuter motorcycles in the country. The front profile of the bike has a stylish and sharp headlamp section and a black coloured visor that gives it some premiumness. The fuel tank has been designed impressively with proper detailings and offers a good and comfortable riding position to the rider even on longer journeys. The sleek and longer seat isnt top notch but still offers enough comfort to the rider and pillion. Talking about the rear, the bike has a sober light coloured grab rail that looks decent and adds some decency into the bike’s character. The trapezoidal tail lamp looks good along with the rectangular turn indicators.
Bolted on a Tubular single down tube with lower cradle frame, Bajaj CT 100 comes with the following body dimensions: 1,945mm x 770mm x 1,072mm (LxWxH) and has a wheelbase of 1,235mm that ensures a superior handling in all conditions. Furthermore, a minimum gorund clearance of 169mm offers a fair amount of stability around the corners. The bike has been integrated with a 10.5 liter fuel tank that gives a commendable range due to the dream mileage of 89.5kmpl. Bajaj CT 100 comes with a total kerb weight of 108kgs that makes it an easy to ride and convenient two-wheeler. The instrument cluster of the bike is neat and simple that comes easy to ride and gives an easy access to all the information to the rider. It includes an analogue speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge along with the usual telltale lights.
Braking and Handling
Bajaj CT 100 progresses over 2.75x17" 41P front and 3.00x17" 50P rear tyres that comes mounted over robust alloy wheels. The stopping power is provided by durable 110mm drum brakes installed at both ends. The bike avails a smooth and comfirtable ride as it comes assisted with telescopic forks upfront and world’s first Spring-In-Spring (SNS) suspension at the rear.
Safety and Features
Bajaj CT 100 houses a bright and powerful 12V-35/35W headlight at the front that delivers a steady beam of light and offers a good visibilty at nights and low light conditions. The twin rear view mirrors keeps the rider aware and alert of his surroundings and hence, prevents chances of any mishap.
