The Auto Expo is a biennial automotive show that holds the distinction of being the largest of its kind in Asia. This latest 15th edition of the show is set to take place from February 7 to February 12, 2020 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, UP. With a footfall of 6,05,175 visitors for the 2018 edition and similar expected this time as well, the Auto Expo is the ultimate platform for Indian manufacturers to showcase their latest products and concepts, but also for new foreign manufacturers to give a glimpse of their India plans.
With the downturn of the Indian automotive industry 2019, this year’s Auto Expo does seem to have taken a hit in terms of the number of two-wheeler makers making an appearance on the show floor. The country’s two largest players, Hero MotoCorp and Honda 2-Wheelers, have backed out of the 2020 Expo, and even TVS Motors, which has always been known to show the hottest two-wheeled concepts is a no-show. In fact, it’s only Suzuki Motorcycle India and the Piaggio Group (Aprilia and Vespa), will be in attendance for the 2020 edition of the show. From Suzuki, along with all their existing line-up (which will have been upgraded to BS6), we expect to see a 250cc version of the Gixxer, and a couple of bikes from their international portfolio such as the V-Strom 1050 and SV650, which would launch later in the year. As for Vespa, their entire range of BS6-compliant scooters is expected to be there. Aprilia will also feature their BS6 scooters and quite possibly debut the 250-300cc versions of their RS and Tuono. While the big names will be missing, we expect a lot of action from smaller electric players such as Hero Electric, M2GO, eMotion Motors and even Segway.
