Yamaha FZ 16 is designed so well that everyone wants to look it again and again. The eye-catcher is a perfect blend of style and performance. The engineering masterpiece designed in a manner to grab the attention of bike enthusists. From front to rear, it resembles uniqueness. Digital LCD dashboard is the feature which is sure to attract gen next. The dashboard incorporates digital speedometer, tripmeter, tachometer, odometer and fuel gauge. High beam, neutral, turn indicators are placed side by side. The console shines with green, red, blue and orange backlights. Front cowl houses the multi-reflector headlamp. Though it is small in size, gives better visibility at night.

Big fuel tank is there in steel body. A nice outside plastic cover mounted on tank to avoid scratches. Appealing bike name logo is place at the side of the tank. Let's see the rear side beauty of the female. Rear portion is designed in the right proportion. Side panels, rear grab bar, rear cowl, footrest have unique designs. The muffler is altogether sheer innovations of the engineers at the company. The two layer type exhaust is covered with heat shield. Overall, the design and style of the muffler is different and eyecatching.

Engine

Look at the specifications of the powertrain. This is fitted with air cooled, 4 stroke, SHOC, 2 valve engine with 153cc of displacement that produces maximum power of 14 ps at 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 14 NM at 6000 rpm. The engine specifications has enough to claim it the best in the 150cc segment. The beast now have upgraded transmission of return type 5 speed. The 5 speed gear box is provided with constant mesh wet multiple. As far as the dimension of the motorbike, minimum ground clearance is 160mm and length, width, height ratio is 1975,770 and 1045 mm respectively. The machine can pounce with a gentle push as it has electric start facility.

Acceleration

The Yamaha FZ 16 leads the list of 150cc bikes when compared to acceleration. The machine can achieve 0-60 km in just 5.6 seconds that is really a mere show of its strength. Pick is the best at any speed. Vibration level is hard to find specially on long ride. You can check it even at 5th gear. The top speed is claimed 114 km, cool. The change of colour is seen only on front mudguard and tank. In all three colours, you will see black and white treatment.

Fuel Efficiency

Being a street bike, one should not expect greater mileage. It can give around 35 kmpl in crowded city condition and 46 kmpl on highways. Mileage figures may disappoint you a bit but possessing a flying machine does cost it. The maximum fuel capacity of the tank is 12 litres.

Colours

What would be the choice of colour, if a street bike is concerned. Yes, the most wanted colours are red, black and orange. The female is crafted in lava red, flaming orange and magnetic black.

Brakes

When street bike is talked about, brakes are major parts and disc brakes are a must. Hence, the company don't leg behind in this section. Disc brakes are provided at the front tyre. The disc brake size is massive as it has the specification of 267mm hydraulic. However, at rear, drum brake is fitted. Yeah, this low-level feature may be upgraded.

Suspension

The lord of the street is designed to experience smooth ride even on bumpy Indian roads. For this, the bike comes with inner tube at the front suspension and mono-cross suspension at rear. The rear suspension can be adjusted as required. In other words, you can adjust the suspension in various mode according to the road surface. The mono-cross suspension is a guarantee of comfortable riding for both rider and pillion.

Wheels and Tyres

The machine boasts of fatter tyres at both end. The tyre size at front is 100/80-17 and 140/60-R17 at rear. These wider tyres help to maintain good balance. The tyres are tubeless that also responsible for good mileage and less kerb weight. In stead of multi -spoke wheels, the beast has 5 spoke alloy wheels.

Wheel Base and Controlling

Controlling is the another aspect of the motorbike which attracts a lot. The wide wheel base, better suspension and rigid brakes work together to give the rider a safe and well controlled riding experience. The rear wheel base is 1335mm. This larger wheel base promises a better grip on road. This also avoid skidding in even bad weather.

Comfortness

As far as the comfort level is concerned, its a like a cushion for the rider. Handlebars are wide enough to provide comfort to hands. Sitting posture is standard. Foot-pegs are there for better control on bike and comfort. Fuel tank design provide adequate space for knee recess. However, for pillion rider comfort level is less. The seat for pillion is too small to sit comfortably. Passenger backrest is another drawback. On the other hand, rear grab rail comes with style. The pillion can have a tight grip on it. The design of the grab rail is handle type.

Pros

Lookwise, the bike scores over its segment. Performance is unmatchable.

Cons

There are a few things which need to be revamped in the bike. Mileage should be more as it is a little higher in the other bikes in the segment. Pillion seat is too small to accommodate a single person. No kick start and leg guard are major concerns.
