Overview
July 1, 2017: With GST coming into effect, Yamaha has dropped prices of the FZ across India. The Yamaha FZ now retails at Rs 81,040 (ex-Delhi), a Rs 571 drop over the previous price of Rs 81,611. Yamaha’s top selling motorcycles in India are from FZ series, which is also among the best selling 150cc premium bikes in the market today. Being first model in India, FZ-16 is the oldest and most raw machine of the series with minimal body panels, while the new FZ FI Version 2.0 is based on advanced technology and design. Both the bikes are based on one platform, however, you can see major changes in their appearance as well as their hearts. Where the older model houses a 153cc, carbureted mill, the new one has an upgraded 149cc, Blue Core, fuel injected engine. Power output of the new motor is around 1bhp lesser than the older one, however, the new bike has better acceleration and higher top speed along with 14 percent improved fuel economy.
Christened as FZ-S FI version 2.0 and FZ FI version 2.0 the, the changes are visible in the form of a rear panel and tail light, headlamp unit, grab rails and split seat. The other elements such as the fuel tank, front fender and switchgear remain the same to maintain the aggressive stance of the bikes. The rear is now more appealing with the new rear mudguard and tyre hugger. Yamaha has offered an eco indicator with the multi-functional instrumental console and both the bikes now sport new pattern radial tyres that are puncture resistant and enhance grip on wet surfaces.
Yamaha has incorporated its all new Blue Core technology that is designed to improve the acceleration of the machine - maximum combustion, reduced power loss, optimized control of fuel supply and ignition timing, all these factors together have made the performance of the FZ FI and FZS FI version 2.0 better.
Both the old and the new Yamaha FZ, features a MidShip design, which incorporates, an agile styling along with premium equipments. They have fully digital console, wide streetfighter handlebar, sporty muffler, alloy wheels, chunky 100/80 section front and 140/60 section rear tubeless tyres, wide 43mm front telescopic forks, adjustable monocross suspension at the rear and many more.
