Legendary bike manufacturer Royal Enfield launched the much awaited Continental GT 535 a.k.a Royal Enfield Cafe Racer at Ace Cafe, London at a price of £ 5,200 (Rs 5.2 lakh) on-road. With the launch of the Continental GT, Royal Enfield brought back the Continental GT moniker after 6 decades. Way back in 1965, Royal Enfield used to sell a 250cc cafe racer called Continental GT250. The new bike uses the typical British cafe racer styling and with the new 535cc engine, it is also the fastest Royal Enfield ever. After the UK launch, Royal Enfield is now preparing to launch the bike in India, which can happen in October during the festive season.

Apart from its typical Cafe Racer attire, the biggest highlight of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 is its 535cc, fuel injected, air-cooled, single cylinder engine. The massive engine builds a maximum power of 29.1bhp and peak torque of 44 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The suspension unit uses the conventional telescopic forks at front, but a pair of Paioli gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Another big change is that Royal Enfield Continental GT runs on Pirelli Sport Demon tyres (100/90/18 at front and 130/70/18 at rear). While a 300mm floating Brembo front disc brake and a 240mm rear disc brake do the braking duty.

The GT 535 is not only powerful, but its lightweight, double cradle frame makes it weigh only 184kg with 90 per cent fuel and oil, some 15 kgs lighter than the Thunderbird 500.
