KTM RC390, RC200 and RC125 Unveiled at EICMA; India to get RC390

KTM RC125

The Austrian bike maker KTM has unveiled the new RC range bikes at 2013 EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show). The new RC range has three bikes including the RC 390, RC 200 and RC 125. All three bikes are based on the Duke Series bikes respectively. Unlike their naked counterparts, the RC line-up bikes are fully-faired, which makes them track riding machines.

All three bikes adorns similar styling and designing, it gets dual headlights in a sharply styled front nose, fairing mounted rear view mirrors and an LED taillight brings up the chiselled rear section of the bike. Another big change is that the RC bikes get much flatter fuel tank to accompany the new fairing. However, the RC line-up’s engine configurations are identical to the Duke’s, where the RC 390 generates maximum power 43bhp, while it is 25bhp for the RC200 and 15bhp for the RC125.

The RC line-up uses the same trellis frame that of the Duke Siblings; however it has been reworked for more track worthiness. This trellis frame gets reworked geometry, a steeper steering head, lesser trail, all of which results in a shorter wheelbase. The suspension unit is the same WP 43mm upside-down fork and monoshoch at rear.

KTM have reduced suspension travel, giving this a bike a much stiffer setup for the track. These RC models have a sporty riding position and leans its rider into the bike with its clip-on handlebar, unlike the Duke series. For stopping power this trio shares the same brakes, a 300mm disc upfront and a single 230mm unit at the rear. The RC models also come with Bosch’s 9MB anti-lock braking system.

As some early reports suggest that all three bikes will also be manufactured at Chakan plant, we are expecting the RC390 to hit Indian market by mid-2014 with a rather impressive price tag around Rs. 2.25 lakh. Stay tunrd for more updates on the same.
