To cope with increasing competition existing in Indian two wheeler market the legendary bike manufacturing company Royal Enfield is speculating to upgrade its brigade of Royal Enfield Bikes in diesel variants equipped with powerful bigger engines. As an impact of increasing petrol prices and shift towards upcoming powerful and sportier bikes legendary two wheeler company is speculating to enhance power of Royal Enfield Bikes equipped with 750cc engines. Recently Royal Enfield launched two new limited editions of Royal Enfield bikes named as Royal Enfield Classic Chrome and Royal Enfield Desert Storm with price tag of Rs 1,65,400 and Rs 1,58,200 respectively, these prices are ex-showroom price in Mumbai. Both these editions of Royal Enfield Classic Chrome and Royal Enfiled Desert Storm are limited variants available with selected dealers and stores.

Exploring company’s future strategy Mr. Venkatesh Padmanabhan, Chief Executive said, that company is anticipating to upgrade Royal Enfield Bikes with 750cc two cylinder engines as various companies are entering in Indian two wheeler market and there would be tough competition among them. Mr. Padamnabhan further added that all these speculations are at primary stage.

Enfield was the first two wheeler company in India to launch diesel bikes in Indian market during late 90’s and now again with continuous hike in petrol prices company has started working on coming up with diesel variants of Royal Enfield Bikes with upgraded versions. At present company’s production capacity is 75,000 units per year and waiting period of some of models like Royal Enfield Classic is lagging more than a year in metro cities like Mumbai. To overcome this situation company is establishing  its new production plant near Chennai which is expected to start production operation during the first quarter of 2013. The  production capacity of this plant is expected to be 1,50,000 units annually. Forthcoming launch from Royal Enfield in coming next 12 to 18 months will based on introducing street version of Cafe racer bike which was showcased during Auto Expo show 2010 in Delhi.
