Hyosung Gt 250r Overview
Hyosung has finally made it to the Indian subcontinent by launching their entry level motorcycle, Hyosung GT250R in the market, which has become quite known to us due to its stylish sports bike persona, which it carries along with itself. Hyosung, the South Korean motorcycle giant, which is now operating in India with the DSK Group has started up its operation in India by launching a series of various different brands like Hyosung GT series, Hyosung ST7, and two thrilling cruisers, named Hyosung GV250 and Hyosung GV650. Amidst, this array of amazing bikes, which Hyosung has made available in the country for the very first time with an aim of becoming one of the prominent players in the world's largest motorcycle market. Hyosung GT250R stands out completely from the hood. Hyosung GT250R is launched against the likes of the established Honda CBR series and Kawasaki Ninja 250R. The essence of this bike can be made out by saying that this bike seems very close to a super bike in terms of style, attitude, performance, and overall ride experience.
It's hard for average riders to say that the GT250R is not a 600/1,000 cc bike. Thanks, to the styling, fit and finish done by the Hyosung engineers and designers who have successfully carved out a sports bike for the youngsters. Today as we all know that it is the 250 cc segment in the Indian bike market where the real action is taking place on every single day. This was started four years back by the Kawasaki Ninja 250R and later Honda CBR 250R joined in for making out riches. Earlier this year we saw the Bajaj-KTM alliance bringing in the very first naked bike to the Indian soil, the 200 Duke. Thus, it seems Hyosung does not want to be left out in this season.
Hyosung Gt 250r Designing
Hyosung GT250R pictures too many similarities with its elder sibling, Hyosung GT650R. The overall dimensional attributes of this bike are identical to the GT650R. Thus, as we stated before that its hard to distinguish this bike from an average 600/1,000 cc bike as Hyosung has maintain the same length, width and height of the GT650R. However, the company has compromised the overall wheelbase measurement, shortening it by 10mm. Thus the extreme aesthetic and muscular designing of this bike has been done intentionally for giving the viewers a view found on 600 cc machines. The current available 250 cc machines in the market, Honda CB 250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250R, both carry elegance, sophistication and are yet disguised with a sporty touch. But, the Hyosung GT250R brings in the true sporty racing dynamics and design from the nineties era with itself, which is new for the buyers in India. Hence, designers at the Hyosung design studio have gone a step ahead by creating a replica of 600cc super-sport racing bike in the form of a 250 cc mean machine which in return would get the heads turning in an instant.
Colors of Hyosung Gt 250r Engine & Performance
A bikes performance is judged by its engine and this bike is much bigger than a 250cc bike as it is powered bya 249cc, 75-degree, V-twin, DOHC engine which uses 8-valves and air/oil-cooling which is capable of providing a power output of 27.6 bhp at 10000 rpm. Also 22Nm of maximum torque can be reached at 8000 rpm. The beats has a five-speed manual gearbox where one gear is pushed down and the other four gears are pushed upwards. The bike revs in friction of seconds but unfortunately the bike lets down as the expectations of a V-twin engine are much higher. The engine is also found rough at some stages as at the power band and more rough upwards. In comparison to Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250R, the Hyosung GT250R lies in between these two bikes in terms of acceleration as well as performance. In other words, the bike does not stand in the way of Ninja 250R as Ninja is much better than this Hyosung bike whereas Hyosung is pretty much advanced and powerful than the Honda CBR250R. The bike can go from 0-100 Kmph in mere 9 seconds. Also the bike can attain a speed of more than 150 Kmph but it could have done a little justice if it had a sixth gear which could make it run faster.
Hyosung Gt 250r Braking & Handling
As far as braking mechanisms of Hyosung GT250R are concerned, this bike does not leave a room for complaints. The GT250R is blessed with twin discs of 300mm at the front tyre with twin piston calipers. While on the other hand, the bike has got a single 230mm disc at the rear tyre. Thus, the company has done good job by giving the riders full access to the control the bike in all kinds of adverse situations. However, it might feel a little uncomfortable because of its bigger dimensional attributes. But,stopping this bike is also an easy task when you require an immediate halt, while driving at high speeds or while making sweep cuts through the traffic.
Hyosung Gt 250r Safety Features
Hyosung GT250R is also very sound and safe in terms of security, as it offers a very reliable and trust worthy suspension mechanism which ensures of top of the world safety to the riders at all times. Hyosung has equipped the GT250R with a non-adjustable 41 mm inverted telescopic forks at the front, which serves the job of protecting the rider from unwanted jerks and jolts. While, the rear end is fitted with a racing inspired gas filled mono-shock absorber. Both of these shock absorbers work in together towards delivering a sound safe ride experience to both the rider and the pillion. Besides this, the bike is blessed with a twin front brake caliper set for enhancing the passengers safety while driving at great speeds.
Hyosung Gt 250r Pros
Striking and stunning appearance, grumpy engine sounds which will remind of the nineties era, stylish twin projector headlights.
Hyosung Gt 250r Cons

- By Rajendra from Bangalore 2012-06-15 -
- By Praveen Kumar.S from Chennai 2012-03-04Heavier than Honda CBR 250 R but trustable one.As it is heavier it's stability will surely be top grade, being able to adjust it's pilion seat 3 way is cool.If priced comparatively, it is going to give honda and Yamaha a good competition.Having minusses typical of a Hyosung, I would have liked the weight going down;..yes it's of the same frame of the 650r, but engineers........you should have did something appreciable. But I appreciate double discs up front and good rear nd front looks.Karvray mototrs hav done a great job promoting you.Weel done, But just not it!! ...
