TVS Phoenix Review
  • Overview

After the miserable failure of Flame 125, TVS Motors decided to come up with something competing in the 125cc motorcycle segment. The offering is christened as TVS Phoenix 125 which succeeded pretty well in stabilising the sales records of the company in such category.

TVS Phoenix gets its power from a 124.53cc, air-cooled, four-stroke mill that comes linked to a four-speed gearbox. The engine produces a maximum power of 10.9bhp at 8,000rpm with a peak torque of 10.8Nm at 5,500rpm. With the ecothrust engine, the manufacturer claims a mileage of 67kmpl which is quite decent for a 125cc motorcycle.

The bike maneuvers on 2.75x17 front and 90/90x17 rear tubeless tyres with black alloy wheels. The suspension duties are carried out impressively by telescopic forks at the front and gas charged shock absorbers (Monotube Inverted Gas-MIG) at the rear. TVS Phoenix 125 comes to a standstill with the help of 130mm drum brakes fitted at both ends. The manufacturer offers an optional 240mm front disc brake as well for a more responsive and powerful braking.

The front fascia has a sharp headlamp integrated with twin pilot lamps that look majestic in the dark. A neatly designed fuel tank and a longer well-cushioned seat provides comfort to the rider and pillion. The rear end of the bike gets a stylish tail lamp unit and a body coloured grab rail that looks stunning. The overall body dimensions of the bike are 1,985mm x 740mm x 1,065mm (LxWxH) that give it a respectable stance in public. With a wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of 1,265mm and 165mm respectively, the bike performs well in the areas of handling and stability.

TVS Phoenix 125 comes with a 12 liter fuel tank that enables the rider accomplish long distance commutes with ease. The instrument cluster of the bike has a completely digital interface that comprises of a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer and trip meter with a low battery and service reminder indicator. Other astonishing features of the bike include a vehicle locator key and hazard lamps that prove helpful in case of adverse situations.

  • Design

TVS Phoenix 125 is a stylish motorcycle that bridges the gap well between a utility bike and a performance bike. The bike has an appealing front profile which comprises of a stylish headlamp section integrated with twin pilot lamps and clear lens turning blinkers. Moving towards the rear, the bike has a stylish tail lamp section that looks munificent with the body coloured grab rail and clear lens blinkers. With body dimensions of 1,985mm x 740mm x 1,065mm (LxWxH) and a wheelbase of 1,265mm, TVS Phoenix handles and steers quite well in city traffic as well as long stretched patches.
