October 20, 2015: TVS Draken X-21 was first unveiled in the 2014 Auto Expo. It is a naked based innovation of India’s third biggest two-wheeler manufacturing company “TVS Motors”. The bike comes with an aggressive look running on a strong 250cc engine. The machine will probably reach in India for sale by the end of 2015 with an expected price of Rs. 1.80 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike will be giving a tough competition to KTM Duke 200.
TVS Draken is a premium naked streetbike that will join the Indian fleet later this year. It promises ultimate streetbike experience and is the most powerful product by the company till date. With the gradually growing street bike culture in the country, the Chennai based manufacturer expects a decent sales record from this bike.
TVS Draken is propelled by a 249.2cc, liquid-cooled engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The mill churns out a maximum power of 38.5bhp at 12,000rpm with a peak torque of 23Nm at 9,500rpm. The four-valve, short stroke, race-inspired engine returns a decent combined fuel efficiency of 33.3kmpl.
The bike is bolted on an aluminium steel trellis frame and runs on 120/70-17” front and 160/55-17” rear tyres with black alloy wheels. Its suspension kit includes upside-down telescopic forks at the front and off-set monoshock at the rear. TVS Draken is fitted with single petal disc brakes at both ends. The bike comes with an ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as a standard feature.
TVS Draken is designed keeping in mind the image of a rugged and aggressive naked machine. Its front profile comes with a sharp headlamp design that resembles somewhat with TVS Apache RTR. The rear view mirrors mounted on either side of the handlebar looks impressive. The rear end of the bike has a stylish V-shaped LED tail lamp with clear lens turn indicators. A sporty tank design with pointed shrouds gives this bike a fascinating touch. The bike also features a split seat that further enhances its appearance. It has a wheelbase of 1,340mm with a ground clearance of 170mm that makes it a commendable street machine. It has a fuel tank of 10 liter capacity.
The instrument console of TVS Draken is informative that includes a digital speedometer, analogue tachometer, digital tripmeter, odometer, fuel gauge and clock, and indicators for low fuel, low oil and low battery. The bike also features a maintenance free battery that proves convenient by cutting down on running costs. TVS Draken has a side stand alarm to provide additional safety.
