15th May, 2015: Mahindra launched its peppy, two-stroke Kine long ago to fulfill the requirements of our female community and short-heighted riders. Born with a sleek body design and wrapped in attractive graphics, the scooter gets its power from a 71.5cc, two-stroke mill that produces 3.75 of power and 5Nm of torque. Mahindra Kine is available at the dealerships in four impressive colour schemes: Racy Red, Pearl White, Groovy Lavender and Midnight Black. Probably the most lighter capacity vehicle in the country, Mahindra Kine is the sole offering in the country’s lightweight two-stroke scooter segment.
The lightweight and one of the oldest two-stroke, entry-level scooters of India, Mahindra Kine is also one of the most affordable petrol-run scooters available right now. It can be seen as the revised version of Kinetic Zing that used to roam around the streets earlier. The scooter is a boon to those with below average riding skills and those craving for a low cost trendy scooter.
Powering it is a 71.5cc, two-stroke, air-cooled mill that comes paired to an automatic transmission. With a peak power of 3.75bhp at 5,500rpm and a maximum torque of 5Nm at 4,500rpm, the scooter hits a top speed of 60kmph. Mahindra Kine comes with 3.00-10-4PR tyre at the front and 3.00-10-4PR tyre at the rear that have a good adhesion property. Its suspension duties are carried out by a bottom link front and swing arm with spring aided shock absorbers at the rear. Mahindra Kine comes to a halt with the help of 112.2mm drum brakes fitted at both ends.
The lightweight scooter is held together by a tubular frame. Its front profile comes with a rectangular shaped headlamp section that gives a brighter vision at nights. The apron receives clear lens indicators, twin air vents and a front number plate. The vehicle has a long, well-cushioned seat that offers a stress-free ride. A body coloured rear grab rail looks impressive that enhances the overall styling of the scooter. The rear end section comprises of an elegant tail lamp integrated with clear lens turning blinkers.
Mahindra Kine has body dimensions of 1,765mm x 635mm x 1,060mm (LxWxH) that give it a compact appearance. With a wheelbase of 1,225mm, the scooter steers well in both, city traffic and straight stretches. It has a minimum ground clearance of 120mm that bless it with a good on-road stability. With a decent mileage and a 4 liter fuel tank, it covers a respectable range without refuelling. The instrument console of Mahindra Kine comprises of an analogue speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge.
