    Overview

    Ducati is about to thrill the Indian automotive industry by launching its fresh adventure bikes that will come under Hypermotard nameplate and promising superb styling with an outstanding performance. Powering it is a 821.1cc, Testastretta 11° L-twin, liquid-cooled engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission with well-spaced gear ratios. The mill develops a peak power of 110hp at 9,250rpm with a maximum torque of 89Nm at 7,750rpm. The Magneti Marelli fuel injection system delivers uninterrupted power and crisp throttle response.

    The bike is bolted on tubular steel trellis frame and is fitted with 43mm upside down forks at the front and progressive linkage with fully adjustable monoshock at the rear. Ducati Hypermotard comes with 120/70 ZR17 Pirelli tyres at the front and 180/55 ZR17 Pirelli tyres at the rear. The bike uses dual discs with Brembo four piston calliper at the front and 245mm rear disc with twin piston calliper at the rear, to carry out its stopping action. The braking system is blessed with Bosch 9MP ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) to provide safety and stability.

    The bike features three distinct riding modes: Sport, Touring and Urban, so that the bike can adapt itself to the rider requirements and surrounding conditions. The SP variant comes with specific riding modes named as Race, Sport and Wet. Ducati Hypermotard also sports a Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system, that prevents the rear wheel from slipping. The system comes with eight levels of intervention (three of which are integrated into riding modes) giving an enhanced level of safety to the rider. The Ducati Safety Pack is added as a standard equipment, that includes ABS and DTC.

    Coming to the body dynamics, Ducati Hypermotard is crafted innovatively with suitable sharp edges and curves where ever required. The front profile comes with a sporty triangular headlamp with a raised front fender, giving it an animalistic adventure look. The bike also deploys a slipper clutch, that prevents losing of revs in case of aggressive downshifts. It sports a fuel tank of 16 liter capacity. Ducati Hypermotard SP differs from the basic Hypermotard by the addition of race inspired graphics and some racing components. These include carbon-fibre engine covers, the front radial pump with 5-position adjustable lever and the dedicated seat specially manufactured to provide maximum adherence. These features guarantee a 4kg weight reduction than the ordinary Hypermotard.

    The advanced instrumentation of the bike goes digital and informative, consisting of speedometer, tachometer, twin tripmeters, selected riding mode, current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, average speed, air temperature, trip time, maintenance intervals indicator (Km), errors detection (diagnosis), setup menu and customization functions, etc. Ducati Hyperstrada is an extended version of Hypermotard with some touring characteristics. The machine comes additionally with windshield, side bags and dedicated ergonomics, that make it a perfect tourer machine. It is also equipped with two 12V power outlets, one on each side just below the rider's seat. They supply loads up to a total of 8 Ampere, that includes heated riding gear, intercom, mobile battery charger and navigating instruments.

    Design

    Bolted on a tubular steel trellis frame, the bike is dynamically a delight to watch. The front end gets an aggressive styling with the integration of a pointed headlamp section and a highly raised fender. The clear lens indicators are fitted impressively in the handlebar guards. The fuel tank is chiselled to perfection giving an upright riding position to the rider. Ducati Hypermotard has a neatly crafted tail lamp section and a stainless steel muffler with two lambda probes that look stunning. With a wheelbase of 1,500mm, the bike offers good stability and handling characteristics to please the rider. It comes with a 16 liter fuel tank and a total kerb weight of 198kg. The fully digital instrument cluster consists of a speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, average speed, average fuel consumption and telltale lights.

The high-quality Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyres offer a superior ride quality and an uncompromising grip. To perform braking duties effectively and smoothly, the manufacturer has installed dual 320mm disc brakes with Brembo four piston calliper upfront and 245mm disc brake with twin piston calliper at the rear.     29th September, 2015: Ducati has finally launched its exclusive adventure bike in India christened as Hypermotard. The bike has been build on a complete off-roading platform to provide a thrilling experience to the adventure lovers of the country. It will come in three variants, which are Ducati Hypermotard, Hypermotard SP and Hyperstrada. The machines will come with a 821. 1cc, Testastretta liquid-cooled mill that produces 110bhp of power and 89Nm of torque. These are put in the price range of Rs. 10. 00 lacs to Rs. 19. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). A future model of the bike christened as Hypermotard 939 is speculated to be showcased at the upcoming edition of EICMA and will be among the nine models promised by the company for 2016.
