14th March, 2015: Unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show 2013 held in Milan, the much anticipated BMW S 1000 made its entry to India in 2014. It comes in three variants: BMW S 1000 XR, BMW S 1000R and BMW S 1000RR catering to adventure, roadster and sports category respectively. The range has truly revamped the Indian high-end superbike market. The machines are priced in the range of Rs. 22.83 lacs to Rs. 27.55 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

BMW motorrad offers its S1000 series for three distinct categories. With their entry into the Indian two-wheeler market, the competition just gets tougher in the superbike segment. BMW S1000 range comprises of three power packed machines, that deliver a smoother performance along with superb body design.
The series is powered by a 999cc, in-line four cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is mated to a six-speed transmission system. The powerful mill churns out a peak power of 160hp at 11,000rpm with a maximum torque of 112Nm at 9250rpm. The electronically fuel injected engine pushes the bikes to a maximum speed of over 200kmph.
BMW S 1000 range is bolted on an aluminium composite bridge frame and runs on 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR 17 rear tyres. The stopping distance is maintained by 320mm front dual discs with four piston calliper and 265mm rear single disc with twin piston calliper. The brakes are fitted with a disengageable BMW Motorrad Race Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) for better safety.
BMW S1000XR comes with adventure sport styling. Its front profile incorporates a huge clear visor with a raised fender, giving it a rugged feel. The rear end features LED tail lamp with a sporty split seat. The bike sports a fuel tank of 20 liter capacity. It also gets a shift assistant pro for better gearshifts and pro riding modes as additional benefits.
BMW S1000 is a naked bike that comes with sharp body dynamics and neat curves. The front profile holds a twin headlamp section that matches its streetfighter image. The bike comes with a wide range of accessories that include HP titanium exhaust system, HP carbon hub cap for front and rear, HP carbon fuel tank trim, sporty windshields, axle protectors, etc.
Last but not the least, BMW S1000RR is a super sportsbike. The unique headlight structure of the series make them look extraordinary. The rear comprises of a triangular tail lamp with clear lens turning blinkers. The bike sports two into one exhaust system that looks magnificent. It further features three distinct riding modes: Rain, Race and Sport that assist it adapt different riding conditions. A shift assistant pro is also equipped in the bike that enables quick and easy gear shifting without the involvement of clutch.
