Automotive manufacturers always try to offer best of the vehicles so to maintain high customer satisfaction, so if they find any faulty part or other issues in any vehicle, they recall them. Last year, Honda recalled CBR250R and this time Yamaha Motor recalled 56,082 units of its Ray scooter. According to Yamaha some of the scooters has insufficient strength in the handlebar, which is because of welding issues. Because of this the steering operation could get affected in extreme cases. As part of an exercise to rectify the problem, the company will reach out to each Ray customer to process the recall.

The fault has been discovered during one of Yamaha's field studies and has now identified all such units of the Ray scooter sold so far. India Yamaha Motor will be voluntarily replacing the handlebars in all such scooters free of charge. The formal statement as issued by the company reads as, “Yamaha constantly monitors the performance of the vehicles used by our customers as well as the performance of parts fitted in them. We will run the voluntary recall campaign on 56,082 units of the Ray as we have found that the handlebar fitted in some scooters may have insufficient strength due to inadequate welding which may in the worst case scenario have an impact on the steering operation. We will be rectifying the error by replacing the handlebar completely free of charge.”

The company has already started the recall process on Saturday (July 20, 2013) through a campaign named 'Ray Refresh Campaign', which will run through the company’s dealership networks across the country. The customers will be contacted through mail as well as phone calls to replace the affected part through this campaign. Company also said that the campaign is limited to the Ray scooters only, and the newly launched Ray Z scooter is unaffected by the handlebar issue.
