Yamaha R3 Launching Soon in India, Spotted in Mumbai

Some previous reports have already confirmed that the Indian market is going to get the YZF-R3 instead of the smaller R25. Now, a completely undisguised Yamaha R3 has been spotted in Sparkling Black colour scheme in Mumbai. If you look at the background of the spy picture, the place seems to be a warehouse of a dealership. It hints that the bike is ready to be launched in the country and can be launched anytime soon.
No doubt, Yamaha R3 is one of the most awaited motorcycles in India and many enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for this new entry level performance machine. It has been styled like a proper supersport bike with an aerodynamic full fairing and Yamaha’s conventional split headlamps. It has all the features of a track machine like split seats, clip-ons, windshield and more. However, it is not a completely track focused motorcycle like the R15, but it has been designed for your daily rides with a bit less aggressive seating posture.
Propelling the new Yamaha R3 is a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor with electronic fuel injection system, which makes upto 41.4bhp of power at 10,750rpm and delivers torque upto 29.6Nm at 9,000rpm. The high revving engine comes mated with a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox via a wet multi-plate clutch arrangement.
Along with a very sporty appearance, the R3 features advanced suspension and braking system. The suspension system comprises of 41mm telescopic forks by KYB at the front and a seven-step adjustable monoshock from the same brand at the rear. It has a dual disc brake arrangement with 298mm front and 220mm rear disc, and the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) comes as an standard equipment. Its light weight 17” alloys come covered with meaty 140/70 section rear and 110/70 section front tyre.
Price of the upcoming Yamaha R3 is expected to be near INR 2.5 lacs, and it could be the cheapest two-cylinder motorcycle in India. The bike will compete with the offerings like KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Honda CBR250R.
