Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has removed its quarter-litre motorcycle- Inazuma 250 from its official website, which indicates that the company has discontinued the bike in the Indian market. Launched at a very highly unexpected price of Rs. 3.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in January 2014, the motorcycle showed a very poor performance. During the time period of April-May, the company sold only three units of the bike, while not a single unit sold in the May.

Just after 5-6 months of its launch, Suzuki slashed the price of Inazuma by a whooping amount of Rs. 1 lakh to boost the sale. When asked about the reason for a huge price cut, SMIPL Executive Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), Atul Gupta told PTI, "There is a lot of demand for the bike but customer feedback said the price is high. So we did it."

However, the formula didn't worked and the motorcycle continued its poor sales figure. On the other hand, the company's new products in the mass segment- Let's and Gixxer are doing pretty well in the market. That's why the company might discontinuing the Inazuma to give some extra concentration on the other new products.

Here are some expected reasons of poor sales of Suzuki Inazuma- a price tag of Rs. 2.1 lakh was too high for a 250cc naked sport motorcycle, style was aggressive but not so impressive and last but not the least, even with a 250cc parallel-twin engine, performance was just comparable to single-cylinder motorcycles like the Honda CBR250R.
