Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited (SMIL) unveiled two of its products in its two-wheeler segment, under the name of Suzuki Hayate and Suzuki Swish which are 112.8 cc bike and 125 cc scooter, respectively, during the Auto Expo 2012. Hayate has finally launched in the Indian market which is expected to give a strong competition to Honda Twister, TVS Jive, Yamaha YBR 110 and the upcoming Hero Passion X Pro and Honda Dream Yuga. It will be available in two variants, that is, the kick start version and the electric start version. The design of this commuter bike is according to the choice of the youth and bears resemblence to Suzuki Slingshot and Honda Twister.
The brand ambassador of Hayate is the bollywood sensation, Salman Khan, and the bike claims to have used a dynamic technology that will make it one of the best fuel efficient motorcycle with stylish design. The price of Suzuki Hayate varies from Rs. 40,162 to Rs. 42,162 depending upon the kick start or the electric start model, respectively. Suzuki Hayate boasts a 112.8 cc air-cooled, four stroke, single cylinder engine that provides a maximium power of 8.4 PS and a peak torque of 8.8 Nm and this engine uses a four-speed down shifted gearbox. Hayate carries an 8 litre fuel tank and is available in five colors, that is, pearl mirage white, metallic lush green, pearl mica red, GL sparkle black and metallic flint grey colors.
The 112-kg Hayate has 17 inch alloy rims for front and rear and comes with single downtube frame and conventional telescopic forks sor front suspension and 5-way adjustable, hydraulic shock absorbers for rear. The company is expecting to sell 10,000 units of the Hayate every month and is aiming to make emotional connections with all sections of customers.
