Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited (SMIL) is all set to launch its Gixxer on the 10th August, 2014. The bike was unveiled in the January this year and exhibited in the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February. The company hasn’t revealed the price of the bike, however, some of the Suzuki Motorcycle dealers have already started its bookings at an amount of Rs. 5,000.

Styled as a naked sport motorcycle, Suzuki Gixxer sports an all new 155cc, SOHC engine, powered by SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology and a carburetor type fuel system. Like Honda’s HET, the SEP technology is all about to enhance the performance of the engine, which is helping the company’s latest 110cc scooter- Let’s to deliver best-in-class power and fuel economy.

The company hasn’t revealed the power and torque output of the machine, however, different websites are claiming different figures. Earlier, Otomotif.kompas (an Indonesian website) was claiming that the bike will deliver 13.7bhp of maximum power along with a peak torque of 13.4Nm, which is almost equivalent to the GS150R. Now, Motor Trend India reports that the new 155cc mill churns out extreme power of 14.5bhp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm of top torque at 6,500rpm. However, we were expecting more than 15bhp of raw power from it.

We also believing that the Suzuki Gixxer will come with a 6-speed transmission like the GS150R, however, they are claiming that the bike will get a 5-speed gearbox. It sports telescopic forks at the front, while a mono-shock suspension with aluminium swing-arm at the rear. The unique split-spoke alloys of the bike come equipped with a disc and a drum type braking system at the front and the rear respectively. The 17” wheels are covered by 100/80 tyre at the front and 140/60 radial tyre at the rear for unmatchable grip and traction in the respective segment.

The new Suzuki Gixxer is expected to be priced around Rs. 75,000 and the closest rivals of the bike in the market will be Yamaha FZ series and Honda CB Trigger.
