Royal Enfield's upcoming adventure-tourer has been spotted testing in Chennai, and it seems to be based on a complete new platform. The word on street is that the bike can be christened as "Himalayan", which was trademarked by the company a few weeks ago. At the vesy first glance, no one can say that it is an RE bike. However, the engine and exhaust arrangement clarifies the brand name.

Engine of the Royal Enfield Himalayan doesn't seems taken from any of the existing RE and it could be a new motor, displacing around 400cc. Output of the new mill is expected around 35-40Nm, which will be quite sufficient for this machine. You can see a new shortened frame with raised tail section, which will help you riding off the road. Front suspension are the similar, which comes with the other motorcycles of the company. However, it has a mono-shock suspension at the rear, which will be implemented first time in an RE motorcycle.

Wheels of the Himalayan are looking smaller than the 19" and 18" wheels of the other models from RE. It has an up-raised handlebar for comfortable riding due to reduced weight on the wrists. There are disc brakes on both the front and the rear spoke wheels. The chopped front fender, chrome finished, round headlamp and exhaust seems to be taken from the continental GT. It will be a very practical motorcycle, specially made for the Indian touring conditions.

The Royal Enfield might showcase the Himalayan at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo and can launch the motorcycle soon after that.
