R.I.P. Bernat Martinez and Daniel Rivas Fernandez

A tragic incident took place in second MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, wherein, two racers lost their lives after getting involved in a brutal multiple bike collision.

The first biker, Bernat Martinez was taken to Community Hospital by ambulance from the runway soon after which he passed away of his injuries. The 35-year-old racer belonged to Valencia, Spain.

The second one to lose his life was Daniel Rivas Fernandez of Moana Galicia, Spain, who was taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas by REACH Medical Services. The 27-year-old biker also perished to death due to some serious injuries.

Wayne Rainey, MotoAmerica president said, “I really don't have any words to describe what we all feel. First and foremost, the loss is to the families and loved ones. Our sincere condolences go out to each and every one of them as well as the MotoAmerica family. They are in our thoughts and prayers."

"We are deeply saddened to learn the news of the passing of Bernat Martinez and Daniel Rivas," said Gill Campbell, CEO and general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. "Our prayers and hearts go out to their families and teams."
