Mahindra Gusto launched in India, Price starting from Rs. 43,000

Today, Mahindra launched its first 110cc scooter- Gusto at a starting price of Rs. 43,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter has been made available in two different variants- Dx and a feature loaded model Vx, which is priced at Rs. 47,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It has been proposed as a complete family ride, targeting most of the eligible riders. Like the Centuro, Mahindra has blessed the scooter with a sporty styling and lots of unique first-in-class features, which will make a strong contender in the rising competition.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief Executive – Farm Equipment & Two Wheeler Division & Member of the Group Executive Board said, "The Italian styled Gusto is powered by the smooth & fuel efficient M-TEC engine. It is India’s first scooter with a Height Adjustable Seat. The telescopic suspension with air springs and 12- inch wheels give it a best-in-class ride experience. Other category-first features like Remote Flip Key, Find-Me Lamps and bright Halogen Head Lamp with LED Pilot Lamps, create amazing value."

Bolted on a steel tubular under-bone type frame, Mahindra Gusto has best in class ground clearance and wheelbase of 165mm and 1275mm respectively. The aerodynamically designed front of the scooter sports a sharp V-shape headlight on the handlebar with twin-LED positioning lamps. The front apron looks interesting with lots of elements like perfectly shaped clear turn indicators with Matt Black cornering and grill like metal coloured panels. The rear gets a unique lighting arrangement in rectangular pattern with sides as turn indicators, bottom as the tail/brake light and top is a reflector plate. The scooter has an analog console with speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and other tell tale lamps.

Propelling the new Mahindra Gusto is a 109.6cc M-TEC engine, which is an all aluminium, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a CVT unit. Powered by a carburetor type fuel system, it is capable to deliver 8bhp of maximum power and the torque delivery goes up to 8.5Nm. The company claims that the scooter returns best in class mileage of up to 63kmpl and provides best-in-class acceleration with 0-60kmpl mark in just 10.3 seconds.

As we mentioned above, Mahindra Gusto comes with some first-in-class features including LED pilot lamps, seat click mechanism and a quick storage at the front, which comes in both the Vx and Dx models. One very unique feature of the scooter is height adjustable seat, which comes only with the Vx variant. With this feature you can adjust the height of the seat between 770mm to 735mm. Other features of the Gusto Vx have been shared with the Centuro including the remote flip key, guide me lamps and find me lamps.

Mahindra Gusto comes with bigger 12-inch steel wheels covered by 90/90 MRF Zapper tubeless tyres.  Both the wheels are equipped with a 130mm drum brake unit, which is sufficient to control the 110cc machine. The scooter has telescopic forks at the front, while the rear gets spring loaded hydraulic damper. The scooter is available in six vibrant colour options- Iceberg White, Galactic Black, Magnetic Magenta, Volcanic Red, Arctic White and Raven Black. It will compete with the likes of Honda Activa, Hero Maestro, TVS Jupiter and Yamaha Alpha.
