Honda's concept bike

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its line-up of production and concept models as well as other highlights for its exhibit at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015.

Honda's concept bike

Using its global brand slogan – The Power of Dreams – as the booth concept, Honda has said that they’ll exhibit a broad range of items including innovative mobility products that are useful in people’s daily lives as well as a line-up of mobility products topped by racing machines that pursue excellence in driving and riding performance. Now among this broad range of products that they plan to showcase, are a number of innovative motorcycle concept models. The main one being a new light weight Super Sports Concept. Designed with the key phrase “strong presence”, this super sport concept model features a look possessing a sense of speed derived from its long nose and low crouching position. The combination of surfaces – creating a sense of hardness and solidity - and sharp edges, emphasise the aggressive look. Moreover, the exterior featuring matte-black-based low-contrast graphics underlines its beauty and eye-catching form.

Our speculation though, is that the concept will eventually enter production as a two-cylinder CBR250RR. Honda has long been rumored to be working on a twin-cylinder CBR250RR, but there is nothing that definitively indicates this is a quarter-liter bike. Facing the likes of the Yamaha R3 and KTM RC390, we wouldn’t be surprised if this engine slots into the 300-400cc range. The riding position also looks to be aggressive, while the upside-down fork, Akrapovic exhaust and carbon fiber components suggest much sportier performance than the sedate 300. But we’ll have to wait for this year’s Tokyo Motor Show to learn more.
