The world's largest two wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, is all set to launch its new scooters- Duet and Maestro Edge in the coming months. These upcoming products were showcased last week at the company's National Dealers Convention held at Rome in Italy. These new scooters could be introduced in the Indian market by this festive season.

Hero MotoCorp Dash

Rivaling the leader of scooter segment in the Indian market- Honda Activa, Hero Duet is an all-metal body 110cc scooter. The scooter has been designed to be used by every riding eligible member of a family and will be a feature rich offering. To give a strong competition to Activa, the new Hero Duet will get lots of superior features like telescopic front forks, external fuel filling, remote operated seat and fuel lid, digital-analog console, USB mobile charging and boot light. Apart from these new additions, it will not left the key features of the leading scooter behind and also get the tubeless tyres and IBS (Integrated Braking System), quite similar to the Honda's CBS (Combined Braking System).

We don't have much information about the Hero Maestro Edge, so it could either be an updated variant of the existing Maestro or a complete new product. However, we can also expect it to be a re-badged model of the Hero Dash, which was showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

Hero MotoCorp is already leading the Indian two-wheeler market with more than 50 percent share, however, Honda is leading the fastest growing scooter segment. With these new launches, the company is planning to take over a big share of the segment from Honda scooters to maintain its leadership in near future.

Hero is doing more than good in the 100-110cc commuter segment with its legendary motorcycles (Splendor and Passion series), while Honda has the top selling 125cc motorcycle (Shine) in India. So, we can expect that after capturing the scooter market, next target of the company could be 125cc commuter market.
