In an attempt to establish its own independent identity after the termination of joint venture between Hero Group of India and Honda Motor Company of Japan in December 2010, the Hero Group of India is going to exhibit its new identity with new Logo in London on August 9, 2011. It is seen as a major step by the Indian bike maker and a transition to become a global product company.
With an objective of designing the logo for its new identity Hero Group had hired the services of renown creative brand innovating specialist Wolff Olnis, engaged with Omnicom group to work on creating the new design of company’s name, its logo and its visible positioning on the product.
Established almost 26 years back Hero Honda Motors Limited came into the existence as the part of joint venture between Hero Group headed by Munjals of India and Honda Motors Company of Japan. During this journey of 26 years the Hero Honda brand of motorcycles brought a new revolution in the Indian bike market. Unfortunately in December both the groups mutually agreed to terminate their joint venture and agreed to establish their independent flagship in the global market. However, going to the goodwill acquired by Hero Honda, the Hero group can use the name of Honda brand as prefix in the name of its product till 2014 and for this Hero group as agreed to pay the sum of 45 billion yen (Rs. 2450 crore) to its Japanese partner. However at the time of termination Hero group has purchased the stake 26% hold by Honda group in the joint venture by paying Rs. 3,841.83 crore to its erstwhile partner. At present Hero group is mainly concentrating on Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme and Hero Honda Splendor Pro brand of motorcycles in India.
