Hero Electric Increases Online Presence to Boost Sales

The leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer of India is aiming towards increasing its sales through the e-commerce platform. Last year, Hero Electric made a deal with Snapdeal to sell its products on the famous online portal which resulted in an increase of sales with almost 25% of the total orders coming via the online route. Impressed by the online response, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is now looking forward to further increase its online presence with a tie-up through e-commerce websites like ShopClues, Homeshop18 and Rediff.com to further boost its sales in the country. Hero Electric have a total of 8 offerings ranging between Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 52,000 and have their manufacturing unit in Ludhiana, Punjab.

In an interaction with PTI, Hero Electric CEO, Sohinder Gill, said, "We witnessed a very impressive average quarterly growth rate of 150 percent in online sales after joining hands with Snapdeal. To further leverage the potential of the virtual platform, we aim to sell our bikes through more websites that have a huge customer base. The company sees this as an opportunity to achieve its core mandate of bringing zero-pollution transportation to the country.”

On the tie-up of Hero Electric and ShopClues.com, Nitin Kochhar, AVP (Categories), ShopClues, said, “The company focuses on introducing new categories and innovating in its offerings. Our consistent endeavour is to bring the best cost effective deal to the customer's doorstep. We are delighted with the successful partnership with Hero Electric, the veritable leader in the revolutionary e-two wheeler space."

Hero as a brand has its eyes set on expansion both in the Indian and overseas market. Hero MotoCorp has become the first Indian two-wheeler company to set up a manufacturing plant in Latin America. They are also planning to set up manufacturing facilities in other countries like Mexico, Argentina and Brazil as part of their global expansion strategy. After splitting with Erik Buell Racing (EBR), who handled Hero MotoCorp’s production in the US, the company has now started its first manufacturing unit in Colombia.
