Kawasaki has bestowed 2016 Ninja 1000 with Assist and Slipper Clutch. Though, it is not announced yet but it is clearly visible at the Kawasaki’s Australian Website. Besides, two new shades have also been introduced: Green with Black and Grey with Black. However, it is not sure that whether these changes are going to be made for the European versions.

The Assist and Slipper Clutch has two types of cams, an assist cam and a slipper cam that keeps the clutch hub and operating plate close or apart. When quick downshifts are made, the system experiences engine braking, hence the slipper cam varies the forces on the hub and the clutch plates. It diminishes the pressure on the clutch plates and enables them to slip. Untill the transmission gear matches the speed of the engine, the clutch remains disengaged.

The current version of Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is propelled by a 1,043, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke in-line four-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 138.1bhp at 7,000rpm. Built on an aluminum twin-tube type frame, the kerb weight of the bike is 231kg. It is coupled with 120/ 70ZR17 M/C (58W) front and 190 / 50ZR17 M/C (73W) rear tyre. Suspensions equipped to it are 41mm inverted forks at the front and Horizontal Back-link, gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear.

It also boasts of Anti-lock brake system, Kawasaki Traction Control, Power Mode Selection and 4 into 2-pre-chamber into 2-layout, exhaust system. Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is offered at Rs. 12.8 lacs that make it a true rival of Suzuki GSX S1000F, which is the latest addition to its Indian product line-up.
