Bajaj Auto is all set to launch a new and upgraded version of its Bajaj Pulsar 150 model soon. The New Bajaj Pulsar 150 model has a mini power-bump with upgraded power of 15.06 PS as compared to 14.09 PS in previous one. It is expected that the top speed of the Bajaj Pulsar 150 model could increase as new Pulsar 150 model will be launched with a new UCD29 Carburetor. The new mini-bump UCD29 Carburetor is expected to increase the top speed of the new Bajaj Pulsar by 5 kmph as compare to the previous model. As the new Pulsar model is coming with an improved power rating, it will be most powerful model after its launch in India.
TVS Motors, India's leading two-wheeler manufacturer has registered a growth of whooping 34 percent in the last month sales as compared to the sales in the same period last year. Company has managed to sell 125,578 units of its vehicles in the month of January 2010, compare to 93,729 units in January 2009. Total sales of the company for the period of April-January this fiscal was 1,234,632 units as compared to 1,100,453 units for the same period of last fiscal. At the same time in the domestic market, company has managed to sell 109,504 units in January 2010, as compare to 79,729 units in January 2009.
Hero Honda, India's largest two wheeler manufacturer has registered a sales increase of 23.57 per cent in the month of January this year as compare to the sales in same period of last year. Company sold 3,89,802 units of its two wheelers compare to 3,15,458 units sold in January last year. In a statement company stated that the January 2010 sales is highest-ever sales figure by the company in a month period. Besides this company is planning to launch 3 new vehicles by the last quarter of this fiscal year. This is the 13th consecutive month in which the Hero Honda sold more than 3 lakh vehicles.
It's been just two years since the Yobykes has entered the market but with their popularity and unique concept it has become synonymous with electric two-wheeler. Electrotherm India Ltd (EIL), India's largest electric battery operated two-wheeler manufacturer is aggressively promoting Yo bikes all across India. EIL is an Ahmadabad based 2000-crore company and till now it has sold over 75,000 units of its Yobikes in the country. Since there is no alternative of this technology, the electric bikes are all set to become future of two wheelers around the world.
According to Mukesh Bhandari, chairman and chief technical officer of EIL, the Company had an edge over its competitors as the company had expertise in power electronics. The company had injected around Rs 150 crore in the project since 2003-2004. He further added that, "From Rs 5 crore that was sanctioned to me by my board in 2004-05, I set up two assembly lines to churn out one lakh units per year. I do not go by figures and what critics say because I believe in the technology and dream of a city free of petrol bikes,"
TVS motors may hike the prices of its two wheelers in the coming month. However the company has not given any specific reason for this action but it is speculated that because of the increase in the steel costs the company has taken this decision
TVS marketing president announced that the price will be hiked in the next two or three weeks. The TVS has planned this entire strategy to boost up their sales and on the basis of the response they had received at the Auto Expo.
Harley Davidson has collaborated with financial giant ICICI Bank that will provide customers with loan facilities for purchasing its products. The deal so concluded will assist the motorcycle company in sectors like banking services and dealer financing. The company exhibited its complete product profile at the Auto Expo held this year. ICICI will provide finance for the bikes manufactured by the company that will cost around Rs 6.95 lakh and go upto Rs 34.95 lakh.
Two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), two-wheeler maker announced that it may unveil two new bikes in the country to constantly strengthen its line-up during the next fiscal as it intends to hit sales point of 15 lakh units in 2010-11. However, the company has not come up with any details regarding the specification of the new bikes and their expected price range.
TVS Motor Co Ltd, India's No. 3 two-wheeler maker, may hike prices of its products in the near term to offset an increase in raw material costs particularly of steel. H.S. Goindi, president-marketing reported that they were looking in the matter and were evaluating the complete commodity pricing. There is a possibility that they could increase the prices in the next few weeks.
Japan based leading bike manufacturer Yamaha wants to capture 10% market share in the coming years by launching new and attractive bikes in India. The Yamaha bikes are already very popular among the youth and company is trying hard to maintain this success by producing performance oriented powerful bikes like the FZ series and R15. Company is all set to launch new bikes in India so that it can keep up its pace with other major bike manufacturers bike Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto.
India Yamaha Motors, a subsidiary of the Japanese biking giant, is functioning on the modification of its once-popular model, the RX 100 which was the choice of many young Indians in the mid and late 1980's and planning to relaunch it. The company is basically working on engine type and styling. However, it would largely maintain the basic design of the earlier vehicle. Pankaj Dubey, national business head, India Yamaha Motor, said that they were working on the lines of the RX 100 and were looking to have something of a similar product for India.
BSA Motors, part of the USD three billion Murugappa Group, has launched its electric scooter, 'BSA Street Rider' at Chennai. The electric scooter was first unveiled at the 'IITF Expo' in New Delhi last year. According to the company release 250 units of the vehicle has been already booked since its launch. The vehicle has come with a price tag of Rs 28,050 (ex-showroom Chennai). The launch was graced by the presence of tennis ace Mahesh Bhupati.
Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha announced that it will come up with scooters in the Indian market in order to tap the potential in segment. Going ahead with the plan the company is currently conducting a achievability study on the scooter market, which will be completed by the middle of this year. At Delhi Auto Expo Pankaj Dubey, India Yamaha Motor National Business head said that they were studying the market to enter the scooter segment but they had not finalised the product line till now.

Yamaha, the Japanese two-wheeler major reveals its plan to introduce a range of scooters for the Indian market soon. As quoted by the Group's top-officials the company is presently undergoing a feasibility study in the segment of Scooters in India. The study would be ending by the end of year 2010. Although the complete details on the exact product line has not been revealed the fact has been acknowledged that they would certainly enter the segment of scooters soon.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) President (Two-Wheeler Sector) Anoop Mathur, at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi announced that the Group aspires to launch an in-house manufactured bike soon. The group soon wants to capture a good hold on the Two-wheeler market and seems to be prepared well for it. In order to meet its future aspirations the Group would come-up with a new Production capacity soon. The bike is expected to be launched in the year 2010.
