Bajaj Discover 100 T Overview
Bajaj Auto has successfully created historic examples by creating exceptional brand value for its products as it can be seen how the Pulsar and Discover bikes have carved out a niche for themselves in the Indian motorcycle industry. Over the last decade Bajaj Auto has easily maintained its grip over its 40 per cent market share in the 125 cc and above segments. Bajaj Discover, the younger sibling of legendary Bajaj Pulsar easily stepped into its elder siblings shoes by becoming the public favorite number one. Bajaj Discover carries the tag of an econo-centric bike while being one of the best value-for-money bike. This argument came true in September, 2012 when the Discover 100 DTS-Si made history by taking away the honor of world's largest selling motorcycle from the Hero MotoCorp Splendor, with a whooping sales figure of 1.22 lakh against Splendor's 1.21 lakh. However, the Splendor tooke back its position in the very next month and still contines to reign in the segment. Hero MotoCorp has always kept an edge over its competitors by keeping a 65 percent market share in the 100 cc and 110 cc segment. But, overwhelmed with such a positive response from its buyers, Bajaj went on building up the brand Discover more strong and it brought in a new variant, Bajaj Discover 100 T. And with this bike Bajaj Auto is armed with three 100 cc commuter bikes in the segent for taking on the number one spot from Hero MotoCorp.
Bajaj Discover 100 T Designing
Bajaj Discover 100 T is probably the best looking commuter bike in its segment. It takes its design cues from its elder sibling, Discover 125 ST. The fuel tank, headlamps, seat placement, side panels and wheels are exactly similar to the Discover 125 ST. But, the differences lie in chassis, suspension and engine and the "T" in its name represents touring concept. The frontal portion carries a neat and fine bikini fairing carving which consists twin parking lights and a brilliant headlamp bulb which is powered by a DC power supply for illuminating the way ahead properly even at lower speeds. The aggressive stance of headlight is very well supported by trendy and stylish turn indicators for creating a curvaceous and uber cool look. The fuel tank inherits the same design and structural pattern from the 125 ST and is a perfect addition to the motorcycle's overall huge stance. However, the bike holds a change in its chain cover, which is a full chain guard, the mono shock suspension system is replaced by the Nitrox suspension along with a long mudguard at the rear.
Colors of Bajaj Discover 100 T Engine & Performance
Bajaj has powered the Discover 100 T with a 102 cc DTS-i, 4-valve, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine. This engine thrusts out anatomizing power amount of 10bhp at 9000 RPM and a peak torque value of 9.2Nm at 6500 RPM. Thus, its not only the amazing looks of the Discover 125 ST, which gives it an image of a powerful performer and it is mainly the smooth and top-class throttle response of the engine which will put the Discover 100 T above its arch rivals like Hero MotoCorp Splendor and Hero MotoCorp Passion series. Bajaj engineers have really worked hard upon incorporating a better and fine air intake system than its elder sibling for improving the NVH levels. This powerful engine is mated up with a 5-speed transmission system and Bajaj has deployed smooth 5-up gear shift pattern. The company has kept the gear box a little clumsy for generating better gear ratios to deliver fine gear shift quality.
Bajaj Discover 100 T Braking & Handling
Bajaj Discover 100 T is equipped with some of the class leading braking and suspensions mechanisms. The Braking system on this commuter comprises of drum brakes on both the ends. The front tyre carries with itself a 130mm drum brakes and a 110mm drum brake is placed on the rear tyre for bringing down this powerful 100 cc commuter to an instant halt even at high speeds. The braking mechanism is combined with 2.75 x 17" mm tyre up on the front and a 3.00 x 17" mm wide tyre at the rear, for giving a better grip, stability and control to the rider. The front forks are tuned in for better maneuverability on the Indian roads.
Bajaj Discover 100 T Safety Features
This bike does not stands on the back foot when it comes to safety features. Appropriate attention has been paid for arming the Discover 100 T with high-class safety features. Bajaj has deployed a conventional 30 mm telescopic fork shock absorber on the front, which is mated with Nitrox shock absorbers on the rear. This brilliant shock absorbing mechanism gulps down most of the jerks and jolts while traveling though the bumpy tracks. Thus, the rider and the pillion have not to worry about getting plagued with backaches while going on for long hour journeys. Therefore, the overall riding experience is enhanced by the inclusion of modern day technologies, which the buyers still find absent in most of the 100 cc bikes.
Bajaj Discover 100 T Pros
Impressive mileage, low price, stylish, Attractive, large fuel tank, perfect seating posture
Bajaj Discover 100 T Cons
Lack of disc brakes, slightly overweighted than its competitors, which weigh less by almost 10 kgs and hence the bike gets a bit lower power to weight ratio.
