Dorsoduro 1200 Expert Review
Another adventure tourer gets line-up in the Indian motorcycle segment. Christened as Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 ABS, the bike is built on an off-road cum adventure bike platform with sharp body dynamics. Aprilia offers its wide range of products in Indian market with a satisfying performance, and with the launch of Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 ABS, the adventure bike segment has truly seen an impressive change.
The bike is powered by an 1197cc, Aprilia four-stroke longitudinal 90° V-twin engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission system. The mill churns out a maximum power of 130hp at 8,700rpm with a peak torque of 115Nm at 7,200rpm. The engine incorporates four valves per cylinder with a double overhead camshaft and twin throttle bodies.
The bike runs on a 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 rear tyres equipped with stylish black alloy wheels. The suspension system includes Sachs upside down 43mm forks at the front and Piggyback design hydraulic mono shock at the rear. Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 ABS is equipped with 320mm dual disc brakes with Brembo four-piston callipers at the front and 240mm rear disc brake with single piston calliper at the rear, coupled with two-channel ABS to ensure safety.
The front profile of the bike is sharp giving it a tough off-roader image. The raised front fender and a triangular headlamp look appealing. A central positioning lamp is also employed, which acts like a crown for the headlamp section. The bike also features Aprilia Traction Control (ATC), that gives stability in strict conditions. The bike sports a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres.
The bike comes with three riding modes: Sport, Touring and Rain, benefitting the rider in different road conditions. It is also equipped with several other accessories that include handlebar guards and an eye-catchy engine cowl. The bike also features dual under seat exhaust system with LED tail lamp sandwiched in between, that looks fascinating. The instrument cluster of the bike is digital with an analogue tachometer showing information in an easy to read manner. The console also includes a switch from which the ABS can be deactivated by the rider.
